“I love him,” Khamzat Chimaev clarifies misunderstanding about him and former champion Khabib Nurmagomedov

Khamzat Chimaev confirms that he and his Dagestani “brother” Khabib Nurmagomedov have no problems between them.

Recently, Chechnian fighter Khamzat Chimaev was alleged to have beef with former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. But “Borz” has denied that there is no such tension between the two Russian natives. Tensions arise between the two fighters when Chimaev said in an interview that he would “smash” the Dagestani if there was a fight between the two. But in an interview uploaded by Frontkick.online, he assured that there was nothing between the two fighters and he had nothing but respect for Khabib.

“This guy [Khabib], we looked up to him beginning and now still look up to him,” said Khamzat in the video. “He [became] a champ, he’s one of the best fighters in the world. And people think I hate him. I love him because he’s Muslim. I’m Muslim. He comes from some village like me, same country, same small Republic, like Chechnya, Dagestan. It’s the same. I have a lot of brothers from Dagestan. He’s Muslim, I’m Muslim, we’re brothers.”

When asked how this so-called beef came about, Chimaev revealed that it was all to do with the reporter who put words in the fighter’s mouth. Someone said to Khamzat that Nurmagomedov could easily beat him up and to defend his pride, Chimaev retaliated by saying there is no way Khabib could beat him up. This turned out to be international headlines causing tension between the two fighters. This even reached Khabib himself which resulted in him handling the situation well in response.

“I answered to some bulls—t guy, but nobody knows him. It’s my [mistake] because I answer for him. He said like, ‘Khabib gonna smash you…’ If somebody says to you, ‘He gonna smash you,’ of course I’m gonna answer it like, ‘No, nobody gonna smash me. I’m gonna smash everybody. If you are a real man, you have to think like that,” Khamzat said justifying his comments.
