“I am the greatest of all-time, brother”- Khamzat Chimaev declares himself as the G.O.A.T of MMA

Khamzat Chimaev

Khamzat Chimaev is one of the hottest prospects in the UFC right now. The Swedish mixed martial artist turned quite some heads upon his arrival in the organization. He is on a four-fight win streak in the UFC, and to everyone’s surprise, he has only absorbed only 1 strike throughout these bouts.

His last fight against Li Jingliang was absolutely terrifying, he literally picked him from the middle of the octagon, and carried him all the way to the corner before choking him unconscious. Khamzat has been asking for top-level contenders ever since his arrival, and he’s been avoided by many in his division. He was getting tired of sitting around, waiting for a fight, and just as everything seemed hopeless, number 2 ranked welterweight, Gilbert Burns stepped up to his challenge, and they are booked to face each other at UFC 273.

These two have been going back and forth on Twitter for a long time now, and fans can’t wait to see them get at each other. Khamzat is predominantly a wrestler and Burns has been preparing for him accordingly. He invited two Russian wrestlers to help him prepare for this fight, but Khamzat believes there’s nothing he can do to stop his onslaught.

Khamzat is confident that he would get the win against Burns, and he believes after defeating the number 2 ranked welterweight, he should be next in line for the title. While talking to Ariel Helwani from The MMA Hour, he said, “I think I have to fight for the title. Who is the next guy out there? Ten fights, 10 finishes. After (Gilbert), 11 fights, 11 finishes. And what are they going to say? The guy is No. 2 in the rankings. Now they talk about, ‘Oh, you didn’t fight somebody in the rankings.’ Now, if I beat this guy… No. 2… what are you going to say?”

Chimaev believes in his ability to defeat everyone in the UFC, and ‘The Borz’ has shown interest in fighting at the light heavyweight division as well. He currently competes at the welterweight and the middleweight division, but he is open to going up to the light heavyweight division to become the first triple champ in the history of the UFC. Khamzat was oozing with confidence in this interview as he said, “I feel I could kill everybody, brother. I am the greatest of all-time, brother. I am the best.”
