Khamzat Chimaev is currently one of the biggest stars on the UFC roster. The welterweight prospect has shocked the world of MMA since his debut last year. While Chimaev has shown what he is capable of doing in his last bouts, the lack of big names in his resume makes it hard to believe him completely.
But many fight fans and MMA experts believe that the guy is a major threat to everyone who is on his way. Especially the welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman. The build-up around him is impressive and it will be interesting to see if the hype train is real or not when he faces Burns on Saturday night.
Chimaev has fought four times inside the octagon and has dominated every opponent he has faced. But, the other side of the story is none of them were as good as Gilbert Burns, Edwards or Usman. So, it will be interesting to see how he performs this Saturday. Only then fight fans can have a decent idea about Chimaev’s true potential.
Khamzat Chimaev warns the top two welterweights in the division
Chimaev recently appeared at the pre-fight press conference of UFC 273. In the interview, the Russian born Swedish talked about his upcoming fight with Gilbert Burns and future opportunities.
During the interview, Chimaev was asked whether he would consider waiting until Edwards gets his title shot against Usman or not. While responding to the question, Chimaev explained that both Edwards and Usman are boring fighters and the fans don’t want to watch the fight. Instead, Chimaev claimed that all the fight fans want to watch him fight and destroy his opponents inside the ring. ‘ The Borz’ revealed that if UFC allows him to take on Edwards and Usman on the same night he will beat both of them simultaneously.
“Leon Edwards, nobody know that guy and Usman is the same, you know. Nobody wanna see the guys, everyone wanna see me there, I smash them both. If they give me both guys same night, I’m gonna smash them both,” said Chimaev.
Chimaev is the raw force of nature that is hungry for action and has the confidence to take on anybody who comes in his way. This is one of the factors that helps him to gain such massive attention from fans all over the world. Chimaev is still relatively new in the UFC and it’s only the beginning of his career. The MMA community is thrilled to see how the future of this fighter pans out.
