Artur Chimaev talks about his brother Khamzat Chimaev’s childhood

Chimaev’s brother, Artur recently did an interview with ESPN MMA’s Brett Okamoto in which he talked about their childhood. In the interview, Artur shares an incident when Khamzat was around 10 years old and got into a fight with other kids. The kids were more in number and held him back and beat him. Artur revealed that when Khamzat returned home he was injured and when he asked him why he got hit, Khamzat cried. Young Khamzat was so angry that he brought out a knife and was ready to kill those kids.
“One time, some guys jumped on him, One held him while the other punched him. When Khazmat came home, he had a black eye and I asked him, ‘Why did you let yourself get hit? Why did you fail?’ And he immediately began to cry. He ran and took a knife, saying, ‘I will kill them now! It was unfair! They attacked me two on one!’ I told him, ‘Give me the knife and let’s go figure it out.’ He was 10 or 11 years old.
Artur continued by expressing that Khamzat is the type of guy who doesn’t run away from fights and always makes sure to deal with them. And he has been like that since he was a young kid. “If there is a fight, an issue, he will deal with it until the end. He will go all the way. He has been such a person since childhood,” said Artur.
It seems like childhood experiences have made Chimaev the kind of fighter he is now. That ruthlessness, dominance, courage etc all these qualities are the result of extreme hard work and adversities that he faced throughout his life.
