Kris Moutinho vs Sean O'Malley

Kris Moutinho won a lot of hearts and respect after his performance at UFC 264 against one of the bantamweight’s best Sean O’Malley.

Kris Moutinho made his debut at UFC 264. He took the fight on short notice without hesitating that it was against someone as good as Sean O’Malley. The debutant ate 230 strikes on his debut as O’Malley ran through the debutant with no mercy. Every MMA fan was shocked to see the endurance of Moutinho and his attitude to not give up.

The green-haired bantamweight returns to the octagon on October 23rd against Aaron Phillips. Kris has some time to train this time but it’s only two months. The fighter knows it is not the best gap between two fights but he is all in for fighting in October. Aaron has a record of 12-4-0 in his career and three fights in the UFC. He is yet to kick off his win under this banner and Moutinho is not looking to give him it either.

Training for his upcoming fight, Moutinho spoke to MMA Junkie about why he took this fight and what he plans on doing. “I didn’t plan on coming back so quick,” Moutinho said. “I planned on maybe the end of the year, maybe next year, but you can’t really say no in these situations. It’s a good fight. It’s a tough kid. They’ve given me two months to prepare. I didn’t have many injuries. My toe was a little banged up, and everything else was pretty good.”

“I healed up pretty quick, and I’ve been training non-stop, so there’s really no reason for me to say no. If I start saying no now, who knows what they give me next time? I’m just ready to go out there, have a good camp and show everybody that I know how to move my head. I’m not just a punching bag,” Kris explained. Moutinho wants to change the perception that he is just a guy who takes ass-whooping, he wants to win fights.
