“Let one white trash get it”- Sean Strickland wants to see some fresh blood fight for the title

Sean Strickland believes he should get the title shot against Israel Adesanya next and the UFC should not make any rematch between old rivals.

Strickland is one of those middleweights in the division who is on a rise. He is currently on a six-fight win streak which started back in 2018 against Nordine Taleb at UFC Fight Night 138. After that Strickland faced Jack Marshman, Brendan Allen, Krzysztof Jotko, Uriah Hall, etc, and defeated all of them convincingly. At UFC Vegas 47, Strickland got his 6th consecutive win after beating Jack Hermansson via split decision.

After winning his fight against Jack Hermansson at UFC Vegas 47, Strickland appeared in the post-fight press conference. The American answered various questions regarding his fight and future in the division.

One of the questions was whether he deserved the middleweight title shot after this win. While responding to the question, Strickland explained that if Adesanya manages to win against Whittaker at UFC 271 then he will complete his quest of winning against every top fighter in the division. The fighter revealed that it’s time for the UFC to give new fighters the title shot and not announce fights that have already taken place in the past.

According to Strickland, there is no harm in giving him a title shot against Izzy next as it will be entertaining for the fans as well. “I mean at the end of the day if f*****g Izzy wins man…he ran through the division. C’mon, let’s get some fresh blood in, we don’t wanna see another repeat. Let’s let one white trash m*****f**** take a crack at it you know,” said Strickland.

The possibility of Strickland vs Adesanya is high as the champ has defeated every other fighter in the division. Marvin Vettori is still in the line for the next contender but last year Izzy totally dominated him in a title bout. It will be interesting to see what UFC thinks about the situation in the middleweight division.
