Sean Strickland believes he is next in the line for the title shot after winning against Jack Hermansson at UFC Vegas 47.
UFC just wrapped up UFC Vegas 47 and the event was very exciting for the fans. At the main event, Hermansson and Strickland went against each other in a five-round middleweight bout.
It was a battle between the 6th and 7th ranked fighters in the middleweight division and both fighters were fighting to get closer to the title shot. After five rounds of back and forth, Strickland won the fight via a split decision.
It was Strickland’s sixth consecutive win and now he is on his way to fight for the title. The fighter has shown his capabilities in his recent bouts and with every win, he is proving his eligibility as the number one contender for the middleweight championship belt.

After a split decision win against Jack Hermansson, Strickland in the post-fight interview walked the fans through the fight and what he was feeling in the octagon. Other than that, Strickland revealed that next weekend at UFC 271 if Adesanya defeats Robert Whittaker then he has beaten every top middleweight fighter in the division and it’s time for a new contender. The fighter called out Adesanya to fight him next as he is the new challenger in the game.
“Izzy, if he beats Robert Whittaker, he’s walked through all the top five. You know, let’s get some fresh blood, let’s go. I’m the one dude, I’m the huckleberry, let’s go,” said Strickland in the tweet by UFC News.
If Adesanya beats Whittaker at UFC 271 then fans can most probably see him fight Strickland next. It is because Izzy has already defeated all the top middleweights like Marvin Vettori, Paulo Costa, Derek Brunson, etc. This fight if it happens will be an all-out striking match-up as both the fighters are known for their stand-up fight. But if Whittaker comes out as the winner next week, then things might change a little. In that case, Whittaker will have to defend his title against Izzy next. So it totally depends on the fight next week.
