Corey Anderson, the winner of the nineteenth installment of The Ultimate Fighter, has fights left of his UFC contract. Despite this, the ‘Overtime’ demanded his release which UFC immediately accepted. The news was initially revealed by ESPN.
Anderson was ranked fourth in the division. He was struggling around the 205-pound title picture from past few years. He lost his last fight against Jan Blachowicz, ending his four fight win streak. But unfortunately, the Rockton Native had to suffer another setback outside the ring.
Few weeks ago, he revealed that he has gone through facial injury injury after his loss against Blachowicz. He blamed Athletic Commission for not doing a proper post-fight medical check-up.
Fortunately, Anderson is now fit and is even helping Daniel Cormier prepare for his fight against Stipe Miocic.
Corey Anderson had warned the UFC earlier to release him if he don’t get to fight Jon Jones

“Release me. If you don’t want to give me what I’ve earned, let me go. I’m hot. I’ve proved my worth. I’ll go somewhere where somebody’s gonna respect me. A lot of people feel like you need the UFC. … I don’t need the UFC,” Anderson had said.
As Anderson left the UFC midway in his contract, his manager has claimed that there was no dispute involved in the split. He said, “This was a mutual decision between Corey and the UFC,” Ali Abdelaziz said.“I’d like to thank the UFC and Bellator, everyone involved. This entire process took less than two hours to work through, and we’re grateful to both promotions.”
Anderson is now heading over to a division in Bellator MMA which is ruled by Ryan Bader. After he got a first-round victory over Johnny Walker last year, Corey Anderson had given the UFC two options – either give him a shot at the title or release him from the UFC.
