UFC Welterweight Gunnar Nelson is back with what he was always known for as he dominates Takashi Sato from bell to bell through his exceptionally magnificent grappling skills at UFC London. Nelson kept on initiating strikes against a knockout artist like Sato without any fear and secured back to back takedowns to secure back control in all three rounds. Know about Nelson’s gameplan in detail through the following narration.

Round 1: Both the fighters are entering the offence range with a karate stance. Sato has taken the centre while Nelson is on the cage side. Some back and forth action between the two. Nelson lands a good body kick. Nelson is closing the distance for grappling again and again but Sato escapes any form of contact. Nelson finally gets a takedown with back control and has locked Sato in a body triangle position. Nelson is baiting Sato with heavy hands from the back so that he can secure a rear-naked choke. Round 2: Nelson is looking to initiate heavy shots when in exchange. Sato as usual takes the centre of the octagon while Nelson circles and takes the side of the octagon. Sato has hardly initiated any significant activity so far. Sato is being more defensive than offensive. Nelson times a perfect double leg takedown and has secured half guard, now transitions to a partial back control as the fight takes place cage side. The body triangle for the full-back control is secured. The ending of this round is similar to the previous round. Nelson nearly secures a choke but Sato escapes. Round 3: Sato initiates some activity but Nelson gets hold of Sato for a while in grappling. Nelson keeps on approaching this round as he did in the previous two, closing the distance with a karate blitz for securing a takedown. Nelson secures another takedown. Back control all over again. Body triangle secured. Heavy strikes on Sato by Nelson so that the latter can secure the choke. Nelson had made more than 5 minutes of back control so far, in the entire fight equivalent to an entire round of a fight.

Nelson has finally made some progress in securing a hook around the neck, but the grip slips away from Sato’s chin, happens again. The fight ends with Gunnar Nelson securing another 10-8. A dominant return for Iceland’s best fighter after a couple of years at an exciting fight card of UFC London.
