“Stay ready”- Luke Rockhold nukes Paulo Costa, warns him to respond to his call-out

Luke Rockhold on Paulo Costa

Luke Rockhold is a UFC middleweight veteran and has been around for a long time now. In 2015, Rockhold defeated Chris Weidman to get his first UFC middleweight championship belt. But soon he lost it to Michael Bisping at UFC 199 via a brutal KO.

Since then the fighter has had a decline in his career, his last win was against David Branch in 2017. In his last two Octagon appearances, the fighter has lost twice in a dominating fashion. Now after three years, Rockhold is looking sharp and has shown his interest to make his comeback.

In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani at ‘The MMA Hour’ show, the fighter opened up about fighting Costa on his return. He said :

“So within all these rules, it’s like, alright, you don’t want to make weight, you want to make all these excuses — you’re just a f* b* when it comes down to it, and your steroids aren’t working anymore…You got caught up, and you’re looking for a way out. He’s always needed assistance, in whatever way, it’s obvious. So f**** show up.”

Rockhold recently posted a picture of him on his official Instagram account. In the picture, Rockhold can be seen with his team members posing for the camera.

In the caption, the former middleweight champion had a message directed towards Paulo Costa. Rockhold revealed that he and his team are ready to go ask the Brazilian to pick up the phone. “Team stay ready Pic up the phone Costa,” wrote Rockhold.

It seems like the fighter is keen to make his return this summer and wants to take on Costa. But on the other hand, in a recent Twitter reaction Costa called out Marvin Vettori for a rematch.

However, the proposal was shut down by Vettori as the Italian thought there was no sense for him to fight Costa. Now that it is clear that Vettori has no interest in fighting Costa, the Brazilian might wanna look for other opportunities. If everything goes right this can prompt UFC to make the Rockhold vs Costa fight in July.
