“He’s beatable in so many ways,” Luke Rockhold is confident that he can defeat Israel Adesanya
Luke Rockhold and Israel Adesanya
Former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold believes he has the tools to defeat current middleweight king Israel Adesanya. Luke has been teasing a comeback after his successful recovery from shoulder surgery. The champ is still all in for fighting in the octagon but he won’t fight just anybody.
Rockhold last fought inside the octagon in 2019 against current light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz. The fighter from California lost to the Polish Power via knockout in the second round. Though Rockhold has been a dominant fighter during his championship days, there was a noticeable decline in his performance towards the end. He decided to fight against retirement and is eager to make it back to the octagon. A shoulder surgery stopped the champ from making his return last August.
Recently, Luke made an appearance in an interview with ESPN Brett Okamoto. The two spoke about his desire to return to the octagon in 2021 and of course about ‘The Last Stylebender”. Izzy has a lot of doubters these days ever since his loss to Jan Blachowicz including Luke himself. “I know what Israel is capable of. I’ve been studying Israel for a long time. I appreciate his style, but I think he’s beatable in many ways,” Luke said to Brett.
Luke Rockhold says he can take down Israel Adesanya better than Blachowicz
The former middleweight champion is known for his wrestling and grappling. Despite his fighting drought, Rockhold believes that he can still wrestle and takedown fighters better than Jan who beat him in his final outing. It seems like Luke has everything figured out for Adesanya. “I don’t think many guys can fight him from the outside as I can. If I just stay relaxed and stay on the outside, it’s a game that I can play. And then if we go into the takedowns, I’ll do a lot better than Jan did, I’ll tell you that.”
Luke has a record of 16-5-0 and was also the champion until Michael Bisping knocked him out in the first round to strip him off the title. Meanwhile Izzy is coming off a defeat to Jan Blachowicz at the lightweight division and has stated that he will lap around fighters in the middleweight division. Israel is confident that this is his division and he is unbeatable there.
