One of the biggest pay-per-view events of 2022 is nearing and it is headlined by the much-awaited featherweight title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Korean Zombie. The two fighters will take the center stage at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida at UFC 273 on April 9th.
Volkanovski was supposed to face Holloway in a trilogy fight but Max had to pull out following an undisclosed injury. Many threw their name in the mix to get a title shot but the champ wanted to test his skills against the legendary, Korean Zombie. Zombie’s last title defense came against Jose Aldo, and after a great start, he dislocated his shoulder, and Aldo capitalized on the opportunity to retain his belt.
He climbed his way back to the top after that, and his last performance against Dan Ige was absolutely amazing, and we can expect an absolute war between these two. Volkanovski won the belt by beating the featherweight G.O.A.T, Max Holloway in a controversial bout. An immediate rematch was booked between these two, and it was a lot more controversial than the first one. Many had Holloway winning both the fight, but Alex was satisfied with the result, and he went on to defend his belt against Brian Ortega in a title match for the ages.

Alex is already 0-2 against Max, and he wanted to settle this debate once in for all with their trilogy match, but unfortunately, he’ll have to wait a little longer to make that happen. Talking about the fight on The MMA Hour, he said, “I was disappointed, you know… man I just, I was really looking forward to that fight. I was ready to get into camp, get things going and end that chapter and all that type of stuff but as ‘Blessed’ says, ‘It is what it is.'”
Michael Bisping is a big fan of Volkanovski, and not only does he believe he’s going to get the job done against TKZ at UFC 273, he also had a thing or two to say about his fights against Max. Talking about it in his YouTube video, he said, “I’ve got Volkanovski. There’s a reason that man beat Max Holloway twice. Max Holloway is special and he did beat Max Holloway twice regardless of what people want to say, regardless of what the Max Holloway fanboys want to say.”
“I think Chan Sung’s going to show up, he’s going to have a good fight, he’s going to make it entertaining, he’s going to make it exciting… I’m not sure how it’s going to happen but I do believe Volkanovski and still…Will be the featherweight champion,” Bisping concluded.
