Michael Chandler has been quiet at the sidelines for quite a while ever since his loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 268 and there have been reports that the American might be facing Tony Ferguson next as confirmed by UFC President Dana White.

White said on a Q&A session on ESPN+ that the promotion was looking to set up a fight between the former three-time Bellator lightweight champion and ‘El Cucuy’ but nothing has been signed as of yet.

Chandler was recently seen showing off the iconic ‘Billie Strut’ in front of a Proper Twelve led board at a local bar and was then recorded snickering later. Whether it was a shot fired at the current highest paid sports star or just a fan moment remains to be seen but ‘Iron’ had mentioned before that he would love to challenge the Irishman.

In an interview with The Fighter vs The Writer podcast, Chandler claimed that “A guy that I admire inside the sport of mixed martial arts. A guy who I would love to compete against. Obviously, Conor, I’ve spoken my peace about that. I think a fight between me and Conor would be absolutely huge. I want those big moments, those big fights, those kind of big legendary status type of platforms to continue to build my career on.”

Chandler might possibly one day face the former two-division champion and when he does, we hope to see a thriller of a bout.

With fresh reports that Michael Chandler and Tony Ferguson are a bout that the UFC is pushing for, the two fighters already seem up for the challenge as both the combat artists took a shot at each other on Twitter.

There’s My Bitch!!! @MikeChandlerMMA The Brass @danawhite @ufc Relayed Your Message Saying You Would Be Ready For Me April/June. Looks Like Your Trying To Delay That Ass-Whoopin’ I Owe Ya For Cutting In Line Kid- It’s Wrestling Season MF, Man Up- Champ”, tweeted Ferguson to which Chandler replied, “Oh Tony. There’s only a handful of guys in this game I truly respect…you’re one of them. Only because of your tenure, not your stature or your current presence in the division. I’ll beat you from bell to bell. Pray for a merciful ref. We shall see if this fight happens.”

This thread resulted when Chandler had actually replied to a fan’s tweet saying that they love to see him face McGregor to which he said “Me too.“, whilst tagging ‘The Notorious’.

Will we be treated to another eventful fight in the lightweight division only the fighters and the promotion knows but one thing’s for sure, the 155-pound division is getting heated?
