Michael Chiesa on Julianna Pena
Julianna Pena shocked the world at UFC as she choked out the G.O.A.T Amanda Nunes at the co-main event of UFC 269, and Michael Chiesa’s reaction to her victory showed how close these two are.
Pena locked horns with Nunes, and most people expected her to lose this one. Pena promised that she won’t back down against Nunes and she will match her power with power. Nunes took her down and dominated her on the ground in the first round, but Pena came back swinging in round number 2, and started trading punches with Nunes, she hurt her and finally submitted her to become the new champion.
Everyone in the arena completely lost their mind, and Chiesa jumped through the barrier and he had to be taken out from the arena, he got very emotional, and he was recently interviewed by ESPN, where he talked about what happened there, talking about his reaction, he said, “That’s where my emotions stemmed from, honestly, it’s it’s….those are the things that only the public knows and like I like I said I’ve been a teammate of Julie’s and a close friend for 14 years, I know what adversity she’s faced outside of that. I know the injuries she’s been through I know the adversities in and out of the octagon that she had to face, and so it just feels like that’s where all my emotions keep spilling out just because I know how much she’s been through.”

Chiesa is so inspired by Pena’s victory, and he talked about how much she’s been through during her career, he said, “She’s been so much through her career, and so many people counted her out and it’s like I just believe when you’re somebody that’s so mentally strong s Julie you thrive of the adversity you’ve been through your life.”
“I just said I fu**ng love you, for a lack of better words I’m not going to swear on here but, I just told her I loved her it was uh.. you know I’m Italian so I’m a very emotional guy I have no problem wearing my heart on my sleeve and I was just so happy for it, those are just tears of joy, it was just a very special moment it’s hard for me to even talk about it with you right now.”
