Mike Perry has been making waves since his big move from the UFC to Bare Knuckle boxing took place in 2022. Perry has made more money and popularity in BKFC than in UFC. He even got the opportunity to fight Luke Rockhold and go face-to-face with Conor McGregor inside the ring.

Recently, Mike Perry was at the ‘Joe Rogan Experience’ and during the conversation, Joe Rogan asked about the differences the fighter had to adapt to while making the shift to Bare Knuckle.

Perry mentioned that the biggest thing was keeping his hands tight in order to defend himself as without gloves it gets harder.“When you’re squeezing your first it’s a little difficult to move. Kind of tense but in bare knuckle you will have to learn how to move while you’re tense. With gloves, you can block a shot but in bare-knuckle, you gotta be closed up, tight, and squeezing your fist so hard that when you hit them in the head, you don’t destroy your hand,” said Perry. On top of it, Perry explained that it’s necessary to squeeze your hand if it can get damaged while hitting someone.

More and more people are learning about BKFC and liking the rawness of the fights with blood and cuts. However, all this makes the fight extremely ruthless. The wrist, thumb, and mid-hand may be wrapped and taped by combatants according to BKFC rules, but no gauze or tape may be used within an inch of these locations. Only punches with a closed fist are allowed. If a fighter falls and doesn’t get back up within ten seconds, the referee stops the fight.

Each round lasts two minutes, and about consists of five rounds. The gear includes boxing trunks, boxing or wrestling shoes, a groin protector with a cup, and a mouthpiece. The squared circle, a circular ring where the battle takes place, is the venue.
