When Sean Strickland put out a clearly dominating performance in the main event of UFC Vegas 47 against Jack Hermansson, the judges however believe Strickland just scraped through for a win.
Earlier today, Sean Strickland took on Jack Hermansson in a very pivotal middleweight fight in the main event of UFC Vegas 47. The fight took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada and Strickland made sure he won the fight comfortably. But the judges’ scorecard would suggest differently. Strickland was awarded a win against Jack via split decision when clearly the “Tarzan” was a clear winner.
Strickland was a clear winner for judges, Derek Cleary and Junichiro Kamijo but he just didn’t do enough according to Sal D’Amato’s scores. Derek scored the fight 49-46 to Strickland, judge Kamijo scored the fight 49-46 to Strickland and Sal D’Amato scored the fight 48-47 to Hermansson. This surely was not received well by the MMA community as they lashed out at the judge in their Twitter reactions.

Kai Kamaka had only two words to say for Sal D’Amato after he scored the fight for Jack. Aleksandar Rakic, UFC’s top light heavyweight was in a back and forth with Chael Sonnen on the fight. “The guy who gets a judge to give him the nod when he was outclassed almost the entire fight. Okay, great.”
Boxing trainer and legend Teddy Atlas was very aware of such poor judging from the boxing world. He sure didn’t expect that to happen in MMA. “I see that the UFC judges also have problems like the boxing. Split decision? Dana, give that judge a few extra bucks for better glasses,” wrote Atlas on Twitter.
UFC heavyweight Chris Daukaus demands the judge Sal D’Amato to explain himself as to why he believed Hermansson won the fight. “So does Sal D’Amato have to report to anyone on why he scored it for Jack? Would be very interested to hear his reasoning for giving him that score on the cards. Judge accountability should be a thing,” wrote Daukaus.
Coach Eric Nicksick was not too happy about the scoring either. “F*cking Sal D’Amato…. Wow,” wrote Eric. Will Harris from Anatomy of Fighter called the judge a Fraud and says he wants to “Cancel him”.
