UFC megastar Nate Diaz wants to have it his way when someone calls in for a fight because he knows he is the money fight and can’t be handed out to every opponent each and every time so easily. Regardless, despite his unpredictable presence in cage fighting, Diaz is an immortal in terms of being a fan favourite fighter and would always have more eyes to watch than most of the UFC roster.

Not long ago, Diaz did tell that he still got 4 fights left in his UFC contract, therefore squashing the ‘last-fight of the contract’ story. So, Diaz is regardless here for a long time. And yes, he still has a line of opponents waiting for him to fight them, this includes Conor McGregor, Vicente Luque, Khamzat Chimaev and now, former 2-time UFC title challenger Dustin Poirier.

Diaz took to Twitter to say his side of the story is unable to get a fight with Poirier in January. Both Diaz and Poirier are coming off a loss. While Diaz lost a unanimous decision to Leon Edwards, Poirier lost a title fight via submission to reigning, defending lightweight champion Charles Oliveira. Poirier has now suggested in his last interview that he may never like to go back to lightweight and might fight in welterweight now.

In a perfect world, if this fight with Diaz happens, Poirier cannot have a better welterweight debut to welcome himself into the division. The two were anyway supposed to fight back in 2018 until negotiations failed. Recently not so long ago, Diaz wrote on Twitter “The ufc don’t wanna pay for u dp sorry u suck Loser.” The abbreviation “dp” is for Dustin Poirier. Poirier replied “All good Nathaniel”

In another Twitter conversation, approximately two and a half hours later, Diaz said “I’m not fighting Conor until his leg grows back and he beats some people so we know he can even fight still till then Can I get on January card @ufc Thanks” Poirier also replied to this tweet as well, wishing Diaz a “Merry Christmas”

What do you make of this exchange between Diaz and Poirier? Why would Poirier be fine about it when he wanted the fight so desperately just very recently? Is the fight not happening for real or is it just a deception? Who do you get it winning if the fight happens?
