“You think we make that kind of money?” – Ex-UFC champ Aljamain Sterling responds to fan’s ‘private jet’ solution to avoid crying babies on 12-hour flights

Aljamain Sterling recently expressed his displeasure in traveling alongside kids on a 12-hour flight. ‘The Funkmaster’ took a long flight, presumably to Canada to catch the action of UFC 297. As such, during his journey, a few kids and babies were present as passengers. They cried throughout the travel, giving Sterling and the co-passengers a tough time. As such, the former UFC champion took to X and explained his experience.
In his recent tweet, Aljamain Sterling described the frustrating experience of flying alongside crying babies. Further, he mentioned all the bystanders were looking at each other in confusion and shared the ill fate. Knowing the internet community, he answered he didn’t have kids even before they questioned him. As such, here is what he said:

This tweet got a smart response from a fan who suggested Aljamain Sterling travel via private jet to avoid discomforts like this. ‘The Funkmaster’ replied to the fan and insinuated he couldn’t afford it. Considering Sterling’s stature in the UFC, this was a shocker to everyone. Moreover, he mentioned ‘we’ taking into account the whole of the UFC roster. By this, he took a jibe at the UFC for its fighter’s pay. Here is what he said:

Aljamain Sterling reigned as the UFC bantamweight champion following his controversial win over Petr Yan in 2021. After racking up three title defenses, he lost his title to Sean O’Malley at UFC 292. Now, he made a move up to featherweight citing weight cut issues. As such, he is to face Calvin Kattar in his featherweight debut at UFC 300.
Aljamain Sterling reveals his initial payouts from the UFC
In 2022, UFC fighters and many fans criticized fighter pay and trashed the promotion for not sharing a fair profit with its athletes. However, UFC lightweight Michael Chandler sided with the UFC and argued fighters were paid fairly. In response to Chandler, Aljamain Sterling stood up for the rest of the fighters and revealed the true nature of fighter earnings. As such, he disclosed his initial earnings in the UFC.
Aljamain Sterling unveiled he earned $8,000 as show-up money and $8,000 as win-money for his first fight in the UFC. Further, he mentioned this purse amount didn’t account for taxes, camp expenses, travel, food, etc. So, he continued to explain that after giving out a share of his earnings to his coaches, management, and taxes, there was very little left for him.
UFC fighter’s pay is still an ongoing debate in the fighting community. However, the UFC has made a few changes to increase the purse amount of its fighters. Aljamain Sterling too earned a lot more after rising to fame in recent years. Still, he felt the need to stand up for the lower-ranked fighter and voiced his opinion.
