Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington, the best friends who turned bitter rivals have a lot of bad blood against each other with the same exact goal. Total domination of the welterweight division. Even though they started together and had the same goal, they did probably anticipate this day to come.
Right after Colby Covington beat Demian Maia and continued to defeat Dos Anjos, Jorge Masvidal was sidelined even though Jorge Masvidal helped him get better at striking, letting him crash on his couch and evading payment with Jorge’s coach. Masvidal then looked at the relationship for what it was and decided to cut off Colby from his life after a lot of altercations.

When Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington trained together, Jorge introduced Colby to his striking coach Paulino. They then started working on Colby’s striking skills before which Colby, being a National wrestler, trained Masvidal with sharpening his wrestling abilities.
Paulino Hernandez, who has been Masvidal’s striking coach and his mentor, started training Masvidal and helped him to where he is today. All of his early streetfighting days and up until the UFC, Hernandez has been Masvidal’s backbone. Covington on the other hand started training without pay with Hernandez and crashed on Jorge’s couch which he was ungrateful for, claims Masvidal thus never trusting him again and distanced himself, leading to this bitter rivalry.
Covington claims that this is the ‘biggest fake news’ he’s heard and calls bullsh*t on the story. What do you think?
