“Your Insecurities are showing” Michael Chandler takes aim at Dustin Poirier after a vicious altercation at UFC 276
Poirier and Chandler have been trading verbal shots since UFC 274
Both Michael Chandler and Dustin Poirier lost their cool and let the flames fly everywhere when they crossed paths at the T-Mobile arena last night. In attendance for UFC 276, the two would go on a brutal verbal altercation that was caught on camera thanks to Gilbert Burns.
At UFC 276, Poirier had some choice words for Chandler, a fellow lightweight looking to make his way back to the title. Though unclear who started the exchange, the first one to be heard loud and clear was Dustin, when he screamed at Chandler calling him a, “Fake motherf*cker.” “I’ll f*k you up, you’re fake, ” Dustin kept shouting at Chandler’s face as UFC security started forming a perimeter around them.
Seein Poirier more agitated than usual and with Chandler standing a few meters apart with only a barricade separating them, UFC security finally pulled the two away. Chandler was escorted back to his seat while Dustin was shielded by the security detail until he calmed his tempers.

Today Iron Mike has hit back at the former interim champion in a deeply personal attack on Twitter. Referring to Poirier’s brand of asking his fans to always stay hydrated, he said, ” Simple truth in life – you aren’t yourself when you’re that thirsty.” Further, he went on to question Dustin’s character for having such a public outburst, he said, ” Keep your cool, be a professional, especially in public. “
Taking direct aim at Dustin with a diamond emoji, Chandler ended his message saying, “Your insecurities are showing.” The two lightweight have come up short against Charles Oliveira in their attempt to capture a title and are unsure of their best way back to it. Chandler has expressed interest in fighting Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz but has said he refuses to fight Dustin Poirier due to some personal issues he had with the Louisiana native when he entered the UFC.
Dustin meanwhile has been looking to fight Nate Diaz in the latter’s final contractual bout and has even called out his former teammate Colby Covington, hinting a move up to welterweight. Poirier has repeatedly said in the past that he firmly believes Chandler is “ducking” him as he’s a very bad stylistic match-up for the brawler.
