“He would be extremely proud,” Adrian Yanez remembers his late father as he reflects on the huge win at UFC Austin

UFC Bantamweight Adrian Yanez is on the rise which seems unstoppable and besides his efforts, there are many supportive people that have believed in him and did their very best to bring him where he is today, a couple of which are unfortunately not in this world anymore. Yanez is coming from the most memorable win of his career in his last fight when he came off a first-round knockout victory over fellow bantamweight prospect Tony Kelley.
If there was a story behind this fight, Yanez was the protagonist of the plot because a little over a month ago, Kelley was heard throwing racist comments at Brazilians during his duty as a cornerman since his girlfriend Andrea Lee was fighting a Brazilian opponent. The Brazilian fans and MMA figures backed Yanez to knock Kelley out, which Yanez did, more so, in his own home state of Texas. Yanez is now on a 9-fight winning streak.

Adrian Yanez wishes his father saw him at UFC Austin whilst holding his son in the stands
Yanez often attributes his persona and success to 2 people, his late coach Saul Soliz and his late father Andy Yanez. Adrian came down for a post-fight interview of UFC Austin to talk about how his father would’ve felt had he been alive today.
“My dad would be extremely proud of me,“ says Yanez “Especially, he would [have been] holding my son right now in the stands, you know…that would [have been] amazing… there’s a couple of people I wish were here but they’re not, you know, but it makes it even better knowing that they told me that I could be in this position…”
What do you make of this emotional response by Adrian Yanez made in the memory of his father? Do you see Yanez becoming the UFC champion within the next couple of years? Yanez is on a 9-fight winning streak and many people believe that his next opponent should be potential UFC megastar Sean O’Malley provided O’Malley wins his next fight at UFC 276 against Pedro Munhoz.
