“It is absolutely happening,” Adrian Yanez weighs on the possibility of a Sean O’Malley fight down the line
Adrian Yanez- Sean O'Malley
UFC bantamweight Adrian Yanez is probably coming off the most satisfying victory of his UFC career when he knocked out his rival Tony Kelley in the first round last night in his home state of Texas. Yanez is now looking forward to who’s next and he is open to anyone, but someone in the top 15 would do much more than just extend his already impressive record of knockouts. Yanez is now 16-3 in his overall MMA career and 6-0 in the UFC, riding on an overall 9-fight winning streak.
A fight the fans want to see in a clash of two very skilled prospects is the one between Yanez and potential UFC megastar Sean O’Malley. O’Malley is going to fight next month at UFC 276 where he will face Pedro Munhoz. So far, O’Malley is 8-1 in his UFC career with his only career loss coming at the hands of Marlon Vera. But both Yanez and O’Malley are the two of the best strikers, particularly from a boxing point of view, out of UFC’s current fresh talent.
Adrian Yanez believes knocking out Sean O’Malley maximises his stock
In his post-fight interview for UFC Austin, Yanez talks in detail about his beef with his last opponent Tony Kelley, the absence of his late father on the occasion of his knockout victory against Kelley, the monetary profits for his stellar performance and much more. Yanez was then asked about a fight between him and O’Malley and here’s what he had to say.
“Man I absolutely see that happening,“ says Yanez “Honestly, by the end of this year, he gets past Pedro Munhoz, I just knocked out Tony Kelley, I have another spectacular win and let’s just say he weighs out his options, I’m there… Me knocking out Suga Sean is gonna bump me way way up high so I’m 100% down for that fight…”
What do you make of this potential fan-favourite match-up between Yanez and O’Malley? Who do you think will get his hand raised? Where do you see Yanez peaking his potential, do you see him as the UFC champion within a couple of years down the line?
