“That’s legendary stuff,” African UFC fighter heaps praise on Al-Nassr winger Sadio Mane’s charitable endeavors in Senegal
Inspired by Sadio Mane's legacy, Themba Gorimbo praises the footballer's efforts to improve healthcare in Senegal, aspiring to similar humanitarian achievements in his homeland.

Sadio Mane made a name for himself in the English Premier League with Liverpool. The Senegalese winger formed one of the most potent offenses ever with Mohammad Salah and Roberto Firmino. Mane is now a winger for the Saudi Pro League club, Al-Nassr, where Cristiano Ronaldo is the captain. Even more than his exceptional football skills and accomplishments, fans adore Mane for his charitable endeavors. Recently, UFC welterweight Themba Gorimbo spoke highly of it at the post-fight press conference of UFC Vegas 85.
Gorimbo secured a first-round finish at UFC Vegas 85. At the post-fight press conference, Gorimbo heaped praise on Sadio Mane. This is what he said.
He grew up and his father died because there was no medicine, and you know what he did? He went on and built a hospital, I think like two or three, in his village. Those are the people that I look up to personally and say I want to be like that guy because, you know what, that's legendary stuff. Gorimbo is from Zimbabwe and shares the same charitable characteristic of Sadio Mane. He famously set up a water well in his country with all the money he got from his fight in the UFC. Gorimbo only had $7 at the time and it caught the attention of Dwayne Johnson who was also broke before his WWE success. Johnson bought Gorimbo an apartment, which made the African fighter forever grateful to Johnson.
Gorimbo is unranked in the welterweight division of the UFC. However, he stated at the post-fight press conference that he will soon fight a top 10 ranked fighter on short notice. Gorimbo further stated that he will become champion in 2024 after the potential victory. He remarked that either Shavkat Rakhmonov or Leon Edwards will be the champion by the time he challenges for the title.
African fighter plans to build a solar-powered library in his village
Themba Gorimbo defeated Pete Rodriguez at UFC Vegas 85. He has already made plans for what to do with his fight purse. Moreover, Gorimbo stated at the post-fight press conference that he would build a library which will be solar-powered, in his village.
Furthermore, he felt that education was necessary to uplift his community in the village. Gorimbo’s focus is solely on the upliftment of his poor village. Many UFC fighters including the likes of Dustin Poirier have contributed to the charitable endeavors of Gorimbo.
Themba Gorimbo also has plans to pay for the expenses of three kids in his homeland for training in Thailand. Moreover, Gorimbo is a hardcore supporter of the UFC as he spoke highly of the promotion at the post-fight press conference. Furthermore, he went on to criticize the fighters who criticize the UFC for fighting at the UFC Apex. Gorimbo went on to state that fighters should be grateful for the platform the UFC provides.
