UFC CEO Dana White has confirmed that UFC has ended its ban on bringing flags into the octagon. This announcement was made after the UFC Vegas 80 event. Previously, the rule came into play due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. However, now the UFC has decided to overturn the rule and allow flag representation in the octagon.
When the UFC CEO was questioned about the changes in the policy, White pointed out Noche UFC as an important factor in the turnaround. White said to reporters, “Flags are back. Yeah. I was on vacation during Mexican Independence Day, and the no-flag thing drove me crazy. And then I was like ‘F**k that. We’re bringing flags back’. It drove me crazy.” White’s change in perspective took place due to Noche UFC. He said, ” Mexican Independence Day flipped the switch and I was like, ‘That’s enough of the no flags thing.’ Flags are back. If any flags hurt your feelings, too f*cking bad.“
Further, White elaborated on his move by discussing his disagreement with the situation. White intended that his fighters could freely represent their respective countries without any restrictions on them. The UFC CEO also said that when the rule was made, it didn’t concern him. However, the Mexican Independence Day changed the picture for him.
White’s leadership has always consisted of bold decision-making. Ever since UFC’s creation, White has brilliantly handled such controversial situations which showcase his efficiency in managing the company.
