Khamzat Chimaev has finally put his word out after what has happened backstage that called off the UFC 279 press conference. UFC President Dana White has never seen anything like that before. Chimaev is fighting this weekend when he will face Nate Diaz in his first 5-round fight in T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.

This is also Diaz’s last fight in the UFC. After this, Diaz is most likely to take the fight promotion route as he announced Real Fight Inc. and is also making arrangements to get his promoter’s license. According to multiple sources, what happened was initially UFC welterweight Chimaev and his team started a verbal back and forth with fellow welterweight competitor Kevin Holland backstage.

The situation included some moments of physical altercations as well and would’ve turned into a full-scale fight if not for former UFC welterweight and longtime athlete manager and coach Tiki Ghosn who got between both the fighters.

Eventually, UFC megastar Nate‘s team arrived and had their own verbal spars with Chimaev’s team after Diaz talked to Tiki Ghosn, who was standing with Chimaev’s team. Eventually, bottles were reportedly thrown between such a large number of men that the staff itself wasn’t enough to control the situation. The press conference got canceled but Holland and his opponent Daniel Rodriguez did take in a few questions.

Khamzat Chimaev took to Instagram to react to everything that had happened. He spoke in Swedish and the translation said “I said already don’t joke with us, Kevin got what he deserved and Nate too.“ For UFC President White, he is confident about his decision to cancel the press conference because had all the camps sat together in the audience, there would’ve been a much bigger brawl, escalating into a proper riot and even the fight might’ve got canceled.

So far Chimaev and Holland have reacted to what has happened from their side. Holland even wrote on Twitter in a joking way that he offered Chimaev a beard trim for free. Chimaev’s teammate Darren Till has given an interview as well. What do you make of what could be possibly the worst case of misconduct on the UFC’s premises?

What is the last time you remember such chaos took place under the UFC’s shadow? To the records, there were 57 people involved from Diaz’s side and more than 30 people from Chimaev’s side.
