Earlier, in his announcement video last month, Dana White revealed three fights for the spectacle of UFC 300. It featured former UFC champions Jiri Prochazka and Aljamain Sterling taking on Aleksandar Rakic and Calvin Kattar, respectively. Also, it had the undefeated phenom Bo Nickal as an attraction, taking on Cody Brundage. Further, rumors had Leon Edwards being a part of the massive card.
UFC 300 goes down on April 13 in T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas. Since it was a huge milestone for the UFC, the expectations for the event were off the charts. As such, fight fans expected a lot of big names and multiple title fights to feature on the fight card. One such name was Conor McGregor, but the speculations were put off when the UFC star announced his fight would take place in June 2024. As such, questions remain about how UFC 300 would look.
Leon Edwards reveals his chances for UFC 300
Leon Edwards recently fought at UFC 296 last month to end UFC’s 2023 year. He took on Colby Covington and was successful in gaining the victory. With this win, he defended his welterweight title for the second time. Now, he looked to make a quick return and be a part of the biggest PPV UFC card, UFC 300.
Recently, ‘Rocky’ attended a football game in his home country where he revealed his intentions to defend his belt in UFC 300. As such, Belal Muhammad was a front-runner for getting the title shot.
MMA reporter Ariel Helwani also confirmed the news on his X handle, stating Muhammad would be the likely opponent even though Shavkat Rakhmonov was in the mix. However, ‘Rocky’ mentioned the negotiations were still going on with the UFC, and nothing was officially confirmed.
Leon Edwards’ addition to the historic card of UFC 300 would boost its star power. However, Edwards might not headline the fight card as fans demand something more from the UFC for its main event. As such, UFC CEO Dana White revealed he would announce massive fights for UFC 300 this week or next. So, watch out for the announcements.
