At UFC 281, Israel Adesanaya takes on arch-rival Alex Pereira for the UFC middleweight championship. Due to history between them, the tension in the atmosphere is visible heading into the bout.
Pereira holds two wins over Adesanya as a kickboxer. “Poatan,” is the only person in combat sports to KO Israel Adesanya, and it seems this is why Alex is so confident heading into their meeting at UFC 281.
Pereira has trolled Izzy multiple times during the buildup to this fight. The incessant trolling continued as the Brazilian hit the streets of New York before their bout. He referenced Adesanya’s Elsa line from UFC 276 in his latest attack on the champion.
On his Instagram page, Pereira posted a video of him with Frozen protagonist, Elsa. The post was captioned, “Elsa says she won’t freeze me ?”. Alex Pereira holds a grudge from UFC 276 where he knocked Sean Strickland’s lights out to become the number one contender for the middleweight championship.
As Adesanya heads into his sixth title defense, he will surely be wary of Pereira’s immense punching power. On the other hand, the title challenger will hunt for a finish in his bid to become the new UFC 185-pound champion. While many have their predictions, only time will tell who will prevail victor at UFC 281.
Why did Alex Pereira pose with Elsa on his Instagram?
As mentioned above, Alex Pereira was simply responding to Israel Adesanya’s earlier line about him at UFC 276. At that event, Alex’s opponent, Sean Strickland got into a heated verbal spat with the champ. The two went back and forth until Sean referenced Alex knocking out Israel.

This clearly touched a nerve as Israel launched a verbal attack against both Strickland and Pereira. Adesanya felt he was winning the fight leading up to the knockout and he made his feelings clear. He said, “He knows I put him on skates last time. And this time when I put you on skates, I’m leaving you frozen like Elsa.” Despite many finding Adesanya’s comments cringeworthy, it seems to have had its effect.
Alex Pereira has constantly mocked Adesanya leading upto UFC 281. However, the 185-pound UFC champion seems to be in a mood to put an end to the jokes as he has vowed to turn the fight into a horror movie. To sum it up, the bout between Adesanya and Pereira has every ingredient to be a potential fight of the year.
