Magomed Ankalaev bagged an impressive TKO victory against Johnny Walker this weekend. The Russian light heavyweight striker is now gunning for a title shot. Breezing past the likes of Jamahal Hill, who is considerably the #1 205lb contender, he wants Alex Pereira next. Ankalaev recently made a case for the said title shot, snubbing Hill’s fight statistics. And now, “Poatan” might have an answer soon.

Ankalaev, at 19-1-1 MMA, 10-1-1 UFC, is unbeaten in his last 12 outings. Meanwhile, Hill, a former champion never lost his belt. He had to, however, vacate the gold last year due to injury. Thus, Pereira ended up bagging the title, against Jiri Prochazka. A recent Reddit post (by u/TheWeightPoet) elaborated that Pereira recently wanted the Ankalaev fight because it is a tough stylistic clash for him.

A prime reaction retorted “He wants Undertaker at WrestleMania. This refers to the WWE legend’s unbeaten 21-1 streak that he held up until facing Ex-UFC heavyweight Brock Lesnar. A fight does not go more tough than that, by any means.

Hill’s manager, Brian Butler from SuckerPunch Entertainment, recently told MMA Junkie that he’s been promised a title shot. As such, the fighter remains the top title shot contender for Pereira. There is no official news on the Brazilian’s maiden defense though.

One prime reaction gibed at Pereira already having faced The Undertaker; or at the very least a version of him. This was a reference to Israel Adesanya using the wrestler’s theme for his walkout music at UFC 276.

Others have mostly stood by the purport of such a pairing. Even though Pereira has not made any title defenses as of yet, MMA enthusiasts are already set on his mettle to win such a matchup.
