“Put me in a fridge” Alex Pereira is flabbergasted by Israel Adesanya’s weird ‘Frozen Like Elsa’ line

Alex Pereira vs Israel Adesanya

Alex Pereira is on a mission to establish his name at the top of the UFC’s middleweight division, replacing his nemesis, Israel Adesanya. The former Glory Kickboxing champion has taken the UFC by storm with his three straight victories, his latest being a stoppage over #4 ranked Sean Strickland.

During the press conference leading up to UFC 276, Pereira was noted by fans for being stoic and calm while everyone around him (most just Strickland and Adesanya) created as much chaos as they could. While Strickland trash talked about Izzy, Pereira watched silently not knowing what exactly or who Sean was saying these things about.

Today Pereira gave his first interview to a major MMA media outlet when he sat down with Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour show. Talking about his initial start to his revamped MMA career, the conversation went on until Helwani asked Pereira about a particular line said by Izzy. Helwani asked Alex what he felt about the, “I’ll leave him frozen like Elsa” zinger that Adesanya has been repeating every time since then he’s been in front of a mic and if he even understands it.

Alex Pereira is confused by Israel Adesanya’s one liners

Pereira who had a less than ideal lifestyle as a child obviously had no idea what Adesanya was talking and he clarified this in his response. (The following is a rough translation of what Alex said in Portuguese)

“I didn’t have time to watch cartoons, movies or tv shows when I was a kid because I had to start working at the age of 12 and never stopped, ” He said, explaining that his early life forced him to prioritize responsibility over leisure meant he had no time for such things. He continued, “Sometimes people misunderstand me as arrogant cuz I don’t know anything about cartoons, movies, etc, but it’s just because I didn’t have time”

Alex then acknowledged that he realizes there are people who watch cartoons and take life lessons from them, which he considers is a good thing but he simply doesn’t understand it. “Even if I understood the reference I still don’t speak english so my reaction would still be the same, “ said Alex, claiming that the line may have worked on someone who had seen the cartoon or knows the language.

He said, “I don’t know. He said he was going to freeze me? How he’s going to do that? Is he going to put me in the fridge” An intentionally hilarious line that even had Helwani chuckling.

While giving all the credit that Izzy deserves he simply ended his reply saying, “I didn’t watch the cartoon bro, I don’t know what he meant”
