“Will see about that, but Israel first,” Alex Pereira reacts to Khamzat Chimaev’s callout for a fight
Khamzat Chimaev- Alex Pereira
UFC middleweight Alex Pereira is a man of focus and until and unless he resolves what’s in front of him, he doesn’t give a slight thought to things after that. In his last fight, Pereira established himself as one of the most exciting and hardest-hitting fighters in MMA, when he knocked out formerly #4 ranked fighter Sean Strickland inside the opening round at UFC 276. Pereira is coming up as an unstoppable force and there’s only one fight that makes sense next.
In the main event of the same fight card that Pereira fought in, UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya defended his title for the fifth time when he dominated Jared Cannonier and secured a unanimous decision victory. Adesanya and Pereira are the 2 established rivals who fought way back during their kickboxing days. Pereira has a unanimous decision as well as a knockout victory over Adesanya when they fought in GLORY Kickboxing. Now, the two are entitled to meet each other for the third time for combat in a different setting this time.

Alex Pereira will see what happens next only after his title shot against Adesanya
Recently in reaction to Pereira’s victory, UFC welterweight Khamzat Chimaev called out Pereira with a tweet that said “I’m want to fight with this guy @ufc @danawhite let’s make it [punch and firework emoji].” Pereira gave an interview with sports journalist Helen Yee talking about the callout.
“I wanna keep the same mind that I always do, see the ones in front of me, not the ones ahead,” said Pereira via translator “Same with Sean Strickland fight, people were talking about Israel Adesanya and I said ‘look, I don’t think about this first.’ Right now I am gonna take care of my fight with Israel for the title, and then, after that, we will see about that,” he concluded.
What did you make of Pereira’s spectacular performance against Strickland at UFC 276? Do you think Pereira can defeat Adesanya in MMA as well? Who do you think would win between Pereira and Khamzat Chimaev if they ever fight? As good of a striker, Pereira is coupled with his power, that good is Chimaev as a grappler coupled with his strength as well. And both the fighters seem to have an elite level of fight IQ in their respective specialisation.
