At UFC 276, Alex Pereira fought Sean Strickland and put forward an amazing performance. Being an unranked fighter and going against a top-five fighter was a massive task.

Before the fight, Strickland mocked Pereira for having no striking and other MMA skills to compete at this level. But in reality, Pereira dropped the American in the very first round with a nasty Knockout punch.

Pereira showed his value and proved that he belongs in the top-tier middleweights of the world. After the fight, the fighter wasted no time but to challenge Israel Adesanya for a title fight. After UFC 276, Chimaev took to Twitter to make an unexpected move which shocked the fight fans.

Alex took notice of this call-out and replied to him in a recent interview with MMA Fighting, he said, “Look at this guy. I’m going to fight for the belt, it’s guaranteed. He wants to attention. ‘Oh, I wanna fight this guy.’ He knows I’m the next contender and he still says something like that.”

He added, “(Khamzat) wants attention because he knows it doesn’t make sense. I’m going to go back and fight him when I’m already guaranteed for the belt? He wants attention, but he’ll have to take a number and go back to the line.”

“These guys wanna make a name for themselves (by talking.) If I wasn’t going to fight for the belt already and he said something like that, hats off to him. But the way he’s doing it, he’s a coward. He’s a coward seeking attention,” Alex concluded.
