‘What bigger fight is there?’- Alexander Volkanovski rates his 3rd fight against Max Holloway as the biggest fight of his career

Alexander Volkanovski is all set to face Max Holloway for the third time in his career. The trilogy fight between Volkanovski and Holloway is booked on July 2 in Las Vegas for UFC 276. UFC 276 will be held on the UFC’s International Fight Week and will feature big stars like Israel Adesanya, Max Holloway, Sean O’Malley, and many other stars.

Max and Alexandar have fought each other two times already and Alexander has come out victorious in both of the fights. Max and Alexandar first fought against each other at UFC 245 and after 5 rounds of fighting, the fight was scored by judges 47-48, 47-48, and 45- 50 in the favor of Volkanovski. In the Rematch at UFC 251, Volkanovski won the fight via split decision when the judges scored the fight  47-48, 48-47, and 47-48 in his favor.

It has been almost 2 years since both the fighters faced each other in the octagon and both the fighters have, since then, improved a lot. Holloway made a comeback and defeated Calvin Kattar by unanimous decision and ever created a record for the most significant strikes thrown in the fight. Max landed 445 significant strikes compared to Calvin’s 133. Max also defeated Yair Rodriguez in his next fight and is in a very incredible form.

Alexander Volkanovski has been unbeatable in the UFC and has successfully defended his title 3 times after winning the belt against Max Holloway at UFC 245. Alexander has defeated fighters like Jose Aldo, Chad Mendes, Brian Ortega, and Chan Sung Jung. Volkanovski and Holloway will fight on July 2 for the featherweight title, and this is probably one of the biggest fights in the Featherweight division, regardless of any organization. Volkanovski last fought Chan Sun Jung or “The Korean Zombie” on 9 April at UFC 273 and he is again ready to make a comeback in July.

As Volkanovski prepares for his fight against Max, He talked about the fight in an interview with MMA Hour and said that this might be the biggest fight in the featherweight division and this might be a legacy fight for him.

Volkanovski said: “What bigger fight is there in our division right now? There is none… I’m not scared of anyone. Doesn’t matter who it is. a lot of people still rate Max Holloway as a great fighter, so when we talk about legacy, that just makes me look even better.”
