“Going to happen every time”- Alexander Volkanovski reacts to Israel Adesanya’s boring performance at UFC 276
Israel Adesanya and Alexander Volkanovski
In the main event of UFC 276 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Israel Adesanya defeated Jared Cannonier and successfully defended his UFC Middleweight Championship.
The champion was mostly restricted to leg kicks and jabs throughout the fight, and Cannonier was less of a threat as the crowd occasionally booed him in rounds four and five. Some even departed early because it was obvious who would raise their hand. Adesanya decided against taking the risk in the end, and Alex Pereira is expected to face him for the middleweight title next. There was no memorable knockout.
Many shamed Adesanya for his performance, and Adesanya’s next opponent, Alex Pereira claimed he was embarrassed to see him fight like that. Alex is 2-0 against Izzy in kickboxing, and he is looking to get a third win over him in an MMA contest. Even though Adesanya is boring, fans are excited to see him square against Alex.
“Why does a champion have to take all the risks”- Alexander Volkanovski puts the blame on Jared Cannonier
Before Izzy’s fight, UFC’s featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski put on a performance of a lifetime against his nemesis, Max Holloway. In his recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Alex defended his teammate, and said, “Of course it is unfair. It’s going to happen every time. Every time you have a tough fight.”
He added, “The thing is, people need to understand when someone only has a puncher’s chance, and that is all they’re looking for. Come on, man. Why does a champion have to take all the risks? Why does he have to come forward when he knows someone is waiting for a big shot?”
“The person, the challenger, obviously if things aren’t going their way, and I’m not having a shot at Cannonier, I think they need to make something happen. I don’t think it’s up to the champ to make something happen,” Alex concluded.
