Alexander Volkanovski and Islam Makhachev are regarded as of the most skillful MMA fighters on the current UFC roster. Both champions put on a great fight at UFC 284 and fans enjoyed it a lot. Volkanovski went into the fight with the goal of becoming the double champion, but Makhachev had other plans.

Nevertheless, Alexander Volkanovski took the loss like a champ but hasn’t forgotten it at all. The Aussie was recently on the IMPULSIVE podcast with Logan Paul in which he talked about his fight with Makhachev. “We’re probably gonna do the rematch anyway…That makes it easy for me, just adds to the story. We move on. You’ve got to move forward and just play on. Obviously, it sucks, but I’ll get the rematch, I’ll win, and then we’ll make a bigger fight and a bigger ending to that story anyway.”

It seems like Volkanovski is determined to take on Makhachev for the second time and plans to change the outcome of the story by beating the Dagestani and taking his belt.

Currently, both Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski are not scheduled to fight anybody. However, fans are waiting for them to make their comeback in the UFC. Recently, in the lightweight division, Charles Oliveira fought Beneil Dariush and won the fight via TKO.

Even though the fight was not officially meant to find the number one contender, people knew that the winner might get the chance to fight Makhachev. Olivera put on a great performance and however it wasn’t enough for the Brazilian to win the fight.

Recently, Olivera fought Beneil Dariush and convincingly defeated him in the first round. Even though the UFC hasn’t made an official announcement it seems like ‘Do Bronx’ has a chance to fight Makhachev next. The champion on the other hand wanted to fight Dariush for a new challenge but now might have to fight the winner of Justin Gaethje vs Dustin Poirier or Charles Oliveira. Nevertheless, it will definitely be an amazing fight. Now  Alexander Volkanovski is not even in the equation but it won’t be surprising for UFC to consider that in the future.
