The UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski lost his fight against Islam Makhachev at UFC 294. At the post-fight press conference, Volk revealed that he struggled mentally when not training in a fight camp. After his promotional duties for the Battle of the Baddest (at the launch press conference), WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury extended his support to Volkanovski.

While talking to Oscar Willis of The MacLife, he was asked what advice he would give to Volkanovski. Fury replied that he had faced the same issues after not boxing for the last year. He also mentioned that he doubted whether he’ll ever box again. So, coming back from it, here’s what he had to say to Alexander Volkanovski :

You win some, you lose some. Dust yourself off, get back in there and kick ass.

Fury was inactive since his last fight against Derek Chisora in December 2022. This made him relate to the mentality of Alexander Volkanovski. The featherweight champion took his fight against Makhachev on an eleven-day notice. Volk mentioned that a part of the reason why he took this fight was because he would be doing his head in when not preparing for a fight.

Tyson Fury has an upcoming boxing bout against the former UFC heavyweight champion “The Predator” Francis Ngannou. On the other hand, Volkanovski looks to return to the octagon as soon as possible. He is eyeing the matchup with Ilia Topuria in January for UFC 297.

Tyson Fury faces Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia

After the infamous Conor Mcgregor and Floyd Mayweather’s lucrative MMA-Boxing crossover bout in August 2017, MMA fighters have entered the boxing ring for monetary benefits. However, nothing remains as exciting as the upcoming boxing bout between the former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and the undefeated WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

The two giants have been going at each other for months on social media. Finally, they’ve decided to settle the feud via a boxing match. This boxing bout is scheduled for 28th October in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This will be a ten-round professional bout and not an exhibition bout. However, Fury’s WBC belt is not on the line.

After his fight with Ngannou, Fury has signed to fight Oleksandr Usyk. The Ukrainian fighter Usyk is the current WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO heavyweight champion. He puts his WBA, WBO, and IBF belts on the line, while Fury puts his WBC belt on the line. The bout will determine the first undisputed heavyweight champion in over a decade. As for Ngannou, he has signed a multimillion-dollar deal with PFL – Professional Fighters League.
