“I want the GOAT status” Alexander Volkanovski wants to fight Conor McGregor so he can “take out” another champ
Alexander Volkanovski talks about a fight against Conor McGregor
Alexander Volkanovski wants to have the best fight resume among all the fighters when all things are said and done. The featherweight champ wouldn’t mind a win against someone like Conor McGregor to push for GOAT status.
Alexander Volkanovski is coming for everybody. The featherweight champ is not here to take weak opponents. The fighter from Australia wants the best of the best and Conor McGregor’s name is tough to be left out of the conversation when talking about a big fight. Volkanovski recently sat down with a TMZ reporter for an interview and the featherweight champ reveals he is all in for a super fight.
Volkanovski has now taken out multiple legends of the featherweight division and Alex believes Conor is surely a legend of the featherweight division. McGregor won the featherweight belt from Jose Aldo in spectacular fashion and cemented his name as one of the best to ever do it.
“It’s always going to be a big fight,” said Alex talking to TMZ Sports in the interview. “There is always going to be money, there is going to be a circus, it is going to be entertaining, it is going to be fun. I will enjoy the whole f**king thing. But again he is another champ in my division, that I have not taken out.”
“Take out all the champions” Alexander Volkanovski wants the GOAT status
Recently, Alexander was scheduled to fight Holloway at UFC 273 but since Max pulled out, the champ picked The Korean Zombie as his title contender because of the legendary status. Volkanovski wants to take out the biggest names of the sport to cement his status as the greatest to ever do it.
“Why did I want this legacy fight with Zombie? It was because he is a legend of the division. I’ve taken out Chad Mendes, Aldo, Max Holloway, Zombie, Ortega, I wanna take out all the legends of this division,” said Volkanovski in the interview. “And Conor has held that belt in my division and again, I want that GOAT status. Take out all the champions, you’re f**king saying something.”
It is highly unlikely that McGregor can move down to featherweight but Alexander can sure move up a weightclass given his past as a welterweight and middleweight.
