Aljamain Sterling Sterling defeated Petr Yan in their rematch earlier this year and proved that he is the rightful champion of the bantamweight division. The fighter is most probably destined to fight T.J Dillashaw in future and defend his title. But there are other options that Sterling would like to explore.

UFC Featherweight champion, Volkanovski recently defended his title against Max Holloway at UFC 276. It was a very convincing win and the fighter absolutely dominated the fight. After winning the bout, Volkanovski revealed his intentions to try moving up and fight new opponents.

In this case, it is a great opportunity for Sterling to take his chance and challenge Volkanovski for a featherweight title showdown. If things go right, he could be a double champion.

One Twitter user commented that after seeing the clip he is excited to watch Sterling and Volkanovski going against each other in a potential featherweight bout. The user also mentioned that this fight is much more interesting than Sterling defending his title against T.J Dillashaw.

” seeing this fight again I’m more interested in a Volk-Aljo matchup at 145 than seeing Pillashaw in a title fight,” wrote the user.

The ‘Funkmaster’ noticed the tweet and replied back by explaining that the fight between him and Volkanovski would be a great stylistic match-up. Sterling claimed that he can be the first fighter who can dominate the Aussie by wrestling. Sterling gave credit to Volkanovski and his skills but revealed that he can create problems for the featherweight champion with his style. He wrote:

” All respect to Volk, but fighting him would be an interesting style clash. I’d be the first guy who could legit take him down and keep him there. I would trade with the bloke, he’s a heavy hitter and I know this. He’s the best for a reason, but my style causes problems 💯”

The fight between Volkanovski and Sterling is surely an interesting match-up that everybody will like to see. It will be a great event if UFC manages to schedule that fight in future.
