Aljamain Sterling has dominated the UFC’s bantamweight division in recent times. His most anticipated matchup against Sean O’Malley has caught some heat recently after the two fighters engaged in a public spat on Twitter.

Current champion Aljamain Sterling has recently risen through the ranks and defeated the best fighters in the division. UFC 288 was the event that cleared any doubts against Sterling. Henry Cejudo, former double champ, tried his best to overcome the elite grappling from Aljamain’s arsenal of skills. But another fighter has similarly steamrolled through the division. Sean O’Malley has become the no.2 contender for the title after sheer hard work and patience.

To make it big in Mixed Martial Arts, many fighters have excelled in one fighting technique to use that as a base in their fights. Whether it’s wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu, boxing, etc. having a base in MMA fights, goes a long way for a fighter’s career. UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling has expressed his opinions and preference for one technique.

The champ has defeated 11 out of the top 15 fighters in the division. Each of his opponents had their unique backgrounds and fighting styles, but none were as good as Sterling. Aljamain stated the most significant factor for his success was his fundamental skills in wrestling. He said, “It gave me purpose. It gave me a sense of urgency of a way to use it as an escape route and make something of myself.”

Aljamain Sterling has another big challenge coming up against Sean O’Malley. However, O’Malley must be wary of Sterling’s grappling skills and wrestling. UFC 292 is stacked with fights, including Zhang Weli vs. Amanda Lemos for the women’s bantamweight championship.
