Former UFC champion Aljamain Sterling had a hilarious encounter while vacationing in Thailand. He was mistaken for legendary NBA superstar LeBron James. The mix-up likely left both Sterling and the person making the mistake amused. It is very evident that there is a striking contrast in their physical appearances. It’s a testament to the global recognition and popularity of athletes like LeBron James.

Aljamain Sterling posted on X, formerly Twitter, “I just got asked if I was LeBron James.” Sterling’s unexpected celebrity moment in Thailand is undoubtedly a humorous tale to share for the credentialed bantamweight. Sterling attended the UFC 293 PPV in Sydney. When shown on the big screen during the event, Sterling called for a rematch against Sean O’Malley. O’Malley responded with a stern no in a similar manner.

Aljamain Sterling’s most recent bout saw him succumb to Sean O’Malley at UFC 292. The referee stoppage was deemed quick by Sterling in the aftermath of UFC 292. Sterling had plans to go up in weight to fight Alexander Volkanovski. Those plans are now put on hold after the defeat. Sterling’s friend and training partner, Merab Dvalishvili, is also clamoring for a shot at the bantamweight title.

It is interesting to note that Sterling picked Sean Strickland to win the fight, and so did Dvalishvili. Dvalishvili even accurately predicted a decision win for Strickland. Sterling and Dvalishvili are ranked 1 and 2 in the bantamweight rankings, respectively.

Jamahal Hill and fellow UFC fighters Merab Dvalishvili and Marvin Vettori recently joined forces to offer a detailed analysis of the highly anticipated UFC 293 event. The showdown between Israel Adesanya and Sean Strickland headlined this event. The trio also took the opportunity to recap the action-packed UFC 292 event.

Merab Dvalishvili’s perspective on the possibility of facing Sean O’Malley added an extra layer of interest to their conversation. Dvalishvili’s prediction of Sean Strickland defeating Israel Adesanya by unanimous decision was even more impressive. Dvalishvili was visibly sad for Aljamin Sterling for losing to Sean O’Malley at UFC 292.

Sean O’Malley is a fellow Dana White Contender Series alumni like Jamahal Hill. Hill was the first alumni to win the title, followed by O’Malley at UFC 292. O’Malley and Hill had a short-lived beef at the beginning of 2023 but have reconciled.
