Last weekend, UFC 288 took place at the Prudential Center in New Jersey and the main event fight was pretty entertaining. Henry Cejudo made his UFC comeback after three long years and challenged Aljamain Sterling for the Bantamweight title.
Both fighters were incredible and put forward an extremely close fight for the fans as well as the judges. At the end, Sterling got his hand raised after winning the bout via split decision. Most fans and experts agreed to the results however, there were some who thought the decision was wrong and Cejudo should have won it.
Recently, the ‘Funkmaster’ made a tweet revealing that he watched the full fight again and believes he won fair and square. “I just watched the fight back. I feel I won the first 4 rounds. Hindsight is 20/20 – there’s moments I didn’t fire because I respected the counters too much. Either way, I beat a stud and I can proudly say 3peat ? Healing up and on to the next!,” wrote Aljo.
Sterling was very happy about beating Cejudo as ‘Triple C’ is still one of best fighters in the world. With this win, Sterling successfully has defended his belt thrice and has shut his haters down.

Aljamain Sterling believes it was necessary for him to shut down Henry Cejudo after all that trash talking
During the build up to the fight, Henry Cejudo and Aljamain Sterling were showing great respect and just poking at each other casually. However, things got a little bit serious during the weigh-ins. Talking about the fight weekend on the MMA Hour, Sterling mentioned that he didn’t appreciate Cejudo bad mouthing his teammates.
He said: “There’s a place and time for everything. Other than that, I think I did the universe a favor in finally shutting up Henry Cejudo. I don’t have an issue with the guy, like, personally. I think he’s a little odd. I do find him funny.”
He continued: “He’s a competitor. At the end of the day … I had to crush another man dreams to achieve my own, and that’s what the sport is about.” Regardless of that, Sterling still has respect for ‘Triple C’ as a fighter but thinks inside the octagon he had to do his job and that’s exactly what he did at UFC 288.
