Aljamain Sterling is riding high on confidence after his victory against Per Yan at the UFC 273 co-main event. He won via split decision and was content with the result. His first title defense against Petr Yan was successful and was quick to call out TJ Dillashaw after his fight.
In an interview given to ESPN MMA on getting asked how his perception has changed as a champion since winning the belt he replied, “It’s night and day.” He further explained that he was really happy to prove all the naysayers wrong who were backing Yan to win quite easily. He also told he was unhappy with the disrespect he was receiving before the fight as MMA fans never saw him as a rightful champion of the bantamweight throne. Aljamain was able to defy the odds and was able to beat Yan in a convincing fashion and shut his critics up.

Aljamain Sterling was quite ecstatic with his victory against Yan. Aljamain after his fight in a post-fight interview with Megan Olivi claims that he feels like redemption. After taking disrespect from the critics and the fans for thirteen straight months Aljamain was able to prove the naysayers wrong and was looking forward to spending time with his loved ones.
Aljamain showed the world that he is a top-notch jiu-jitsu black belt after holding a guy like Petr Yan down for the majority of the two rounds. He not only won the grappling exchanges but also outstruck him in the first round of their bantamweight title fight making sure he takes home the belt via split decision. Now it remains to be seen who is he going to take on his second title defense. Sterling called out TJ Dillashaw after the five-round bout.
