Aljamain Sterling defeated former champion Henry Cejudo at UFC 288 in his third title defense as the bantamweight champion. After a humorous plug-in of cash apps at The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, fans sent him a special fight bonus.
Aljamain Sterling versus Henry Cejudo headlined the UFC 288 PPV in Newark, New Jersey. The two bantamweights displayed high-level techniques in their title fight. After five rounds of action, Sterling won the fight via split decision on the scorecard. The two fighters did not receive any post-fight bonuses for their performances.
Aljamain Sterling went on The MMA Hour to discuss the fight with Ariel Helwani. Helwani brought up the topic of fighter pay, and Sterling hilariously plugged his CashApp and Venmo into the live chat. He said, ” If you made money off of me, send me that money, man.” Sterling was joking, but the fans sent money to his accounts.
Sterling went on Twitter to thank everyone who had sent him the money as a bonus. He wrote,“Just checked my Venmo and Cash app account! Yoooo! Shoutout to the fans from the MMA Hour that listened and hooked me up! I appreciate the ?’s! Definitely gonna enjoy this week!” Wholesome moments like this happen very far and few between the MMA community.

Sean O’Malley ranks #2 in the UFC Bantamweight rankings. Dana White and the UFC will attempt to book a future title fight between the fighters. The two could face each other in the Boston PPV in August.

He insists he can do better business for the UFC and generate more money with PPV sales. O’Malley might be the most popular bantamweight on the roster. UFC sees him as a star in the making and will look to put him in a title fight for August.
Sean O’Malley entered the octagon after Sterling’s victory at UFC 288. He said, “You better look better than that,” multiple times before Sterling fired back at O’Malley for not accepting a title shot before. Fight fans look forward to the announcement of the Sterling vs. O’Malley fight announcement.
