UFC presents a stunning women’s strawweight battle at UFC Long Island. Michelle Waterson takes on Amanda Lemos in the co-main event in a stunning matchup.
UFC returns to live arenas for Fight Night events once again. UFC Fight Night: Ortega vs Rodriguez takes place at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, and also takes place on ABC. This event is headlined by the number one contender fight between Brian Ortega and Yair Rodriguez and in the co-main event, two of the most stunning women’s strawweights take the center stage. Amanda and Michelle are looking to make a statement in the UFC’s strawweight division with a win tonight.
Waterson will be fighting for the first time in 2022 and is coming off a loss against Marina Rodriguez. She will be going up against the violent and exciting Amanda Lemos who is currently #11 in the strawweight rankings. She is coming off a loss to Jessica Andrade earlier this year, which snapped her winning streak. Both the fighters are looking to bounce back onto the win column with a victory at UFC Long Island. Amanda Lemos gets the better of Michelle Waterson
Round 1 Michelle keeps her distance and tries to find her range. Both fighters exchange low leg kicks. Lemos lands a nice right hand but Waterson backs up. Lemos goes for the left hook but fails to connect. Very little action from the first round of the fight after 4 minutes. Waterson takes the fight to the ground and gets ground control for most of the final minute.
Round 2 Lemos once again looks to close the distance and lands some strikes. Great body shot from Lemos. Waterson goes for the takedown but Lemos immediately jumps to the guillotine choke. The mounted guillotine is very tight and Michelle is in huge trouble. The referee does not stop the fight but Lemos points out that her opponent tapped on the back and Waterson is gracious enough to accept the tap despite the referee not calling the fight.
