Julianna Peña losses her bantamweight belt to Amanda Nunes

The much anticipated main event of UFC 277 is finally here. Two of the most popular women fighters in the UFC roster, Amanda Nunes and Julianna Peña will take on each other for a five round bantamweight title fight.UFC 277 takes place inside the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The UFC Pay-per-view event will be headlined by the incredible bantamweight showdown between Juliaana Pena and Amanda Nunes.

Both the fighters will try to do their best in order to get a win and hold the championship belt. Pena is coming into the fight after winning the belt last time against Nunes and is highly confident. The fighter is currently on the top of this game and would like to lose her championship anytime soon.

On the other hand, Nunes was in a 11 fight win streak with multiple title defences before fighting Pena last year. At UFC 269, when both the fighters collided, Nunes wasn’t herself and failed to show her real capabilities inside the octagon. This is an opportunity for her to win back her title and Pena will like to prove to the fans why she deserves to be the champ. Let’s see how the main event of UFC 277 plays out.

Round 1

Finally it’s time for the main event of UFC 277 between Pena and Nunes to go down as the fighters touch gloves. As the fight starts both the opponents are extremely cautious. Pena succeeds to land a one two and gets hit by a leg kick from Nunes. The Brazilian connects with a huge left hook and then a right hook that drops Pena on the ground. The champion is now more cautious than ever and has stopped going forward. Nunes takes the opportunity and goes for a takedown but fails. The rounds ends as both the fighters went hard on each other.

Round 2

As the second starts, Nunes is looking much more confident and is in no mood of backing out. She goes first and connects a nasty shot on Pena and drops the champion. Nunes gave Pena a chance in order to stand up and come again. Nunes drops Pena again and the cycle continues. However, Pena finally connects on Nunes with a big straight. As both fighters are going in full attacking mode, Nunes drops Pena again with a straight left. But Pena goes for it again, not concerned about the consequences. The round ends with both fighters clinched against the cage.

Round 3

Pena has suffered a lot of damage but doesn’t seem to give up anytime soon. As the third round starts, the ‘Venezuelan Vixen’ shows great toughness. Nunes connects a spinning elbow but Pena recovers and decides to close the distance but it doesn’t work. Nunes gets her first successful take down and now looks to be doing some serious damage by ground and pound. Pena is in a bad position with a bleeding cut on her forehead. As the round closes, Nunes is ahead in the point table.

Round 4

As the fourth round kicks off, Nunes goes for an immediate takedown and both are now on the ground. As Pena tries to get an omoplata followed by an arm bar, Nunes manages to get out and now is in a dominant position. The Brazilian landed some nasty elbows from above but had to evade an arm bar from Pena. As the round continues, both fighters are now on their feet and Pena has a bloodied face. But that wasn’t it, the former champion went for a takedown again and finished the round with some brutal shots from the top.

To the fifth & final round we go!!!

Round 5

With the start of fifth and the final round, Nunes is not satisfied as she goes for another takedown forcing Pena to be in the guard position. As the fight goes to the feet then again Nunes gets a successful takedown. What an amazing showcase of fighting spirit from both the ladies. As both the fighters try to get to a dominant position on the ground the fight enters its last minute. Nunes tries to get a rear naked choke but Pena escapes and the fight is over. A true example of how a title fight should look like.
