Dana White revealed that Stephen Thompson doesn’t want to fight Ian Garry. The relationship between the UFC and Thompson is currently not in the best shape. His scheduled fight with Michael Pereira was canceled at the very last moment due to weight issues.

While “Wonderboy” successfully met his pre-fight requirements by reaching the required weight for his match against Michel Pereira, his opponent, the Brazilian fighter, exceeded the limit by three pounds. Frustrated by it, Thompson decided to withdraw his name but wanted the UFC to pay him for the time he invested in the fight campaign.

However, White addressed the incident in an interview and revealed that Thompson shouldn’t be paid if he didn’t fight. “Guys just don’t get paid to not fight..first of all, you decided not to fight. The guy was three pounds overweight, whatever it was. You get a piece of his purse if you take the fight.”

While Thompson didn’t react to White’s statement, in a recent press conference after UFC 292, White disclosed that Thompson has rejected fighting Ian Garry, which he previously agreed to do. “Wonderboy turned the fight down tonight,” said White. It seems like the tension between White and ‘Wonderboy’ is still there, and fans are quick to notice it too.

Stephen Thompson has had a lengthy and illustrious career in the UFC, showcasing his martial arts skills and sportsmanship in the Octagon for many years. He’s not only a seasoned fighter but also a true company man, consistently representing the UFC with dedication and professionalism throughout his tenure.

But given the circumstances fight fans are being forced to have their own theories about the situation.

Fans had a mixed reaction to Dana White‘s claims about Thompson. While some called out the fighter for not staying on his word, many mentioned that White can’t be trusted as he said he doesn’t make fights on fight nights.
