Ariel Helwani is one of the most popular MMA reporters in the world and has been covering UFC for more than a decade now. As expected, throughout the weekend at UFC 286, Helwani was quite busy on social media. Helwani was sharing tweets about every fight and trying his best to get any inside scoop on the event.
During one of those fights between Yanal Ashmouz and Sam Patterson, Ashmouz won the fight via TKO in the first round. In the opening moments of the fight, Ashmoz caused Patterson to stumble and then landed a powerful left hook to his head as lightweight tumbled to the mat. Ashmoz quickly followed up with a series of strikes from the top position, ultimately rendering Patterson unconscious. The Israeli put out a great performance, and Helwani was highly impressed by it.
Helwani was born in Montreal, Canada to a Jewish family, and after Ashmouz won he put out a tweet with an Israeli flag. Israel is the world’s only Jewish state and Helwani has always supported the country.
