Conor McGregor was born in Crumlin, Dublin. Before making his UFC debut, the “The Notorious” had already made a name for himself in the European fighting circuit by clubbing a 12-2 record(11 of those as first round knockouts). He also made history as a two-division champion in Cage Warriors.

McGregor made his UFC debut in Stockholm on April 6th, 2013 against Marcus Brimage. The latter already had a 3-0 record in the UFC coming into this fight. However, most fans were eager about the Irishman stepping into the octagon. Despite being the fourth preliminary bout on the cards, this fight was able to create buzz as Conor McGregor knocked out his opponent in just 67 secs of the first round.

During the post-fight interview, the arena erupted with cheers, as McGregor delivered one of the most iconic lines in UFC history. He said, “Dana 60GS baby“. Through his statement, McGregor wished to get the knockout of the night bonus. “It was one of the most memorable moments of my life” said the Notorious in the post match press conference.

Conor McGregor was awarded with $60000 bonus as his finish of Brimage was declared knockout of the night. This event was of course a very suiting beginning of one of the greatest fighting careers in UFC.

There is no denying that McGregor’s achievements have placed him as one of the GOATs in the fighting industry. While his performances justify his legendary status, as of 2022 his net worth is around $200million. He was even named the highest paid athlete by forbes in 2021.

Infamous for his epic one liners and trash talk, probably no one in the industry sells a fight like McGregor. This makes him the target of every fighter in the business. Everybody knows McGregor is money. This is one of the reasons behind his rise to stardom.

McGregor was on the pinnacle of MMA until he fought Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229. Since then it seems he has lost his magic, as he has been unable to deliver his A game. The Irishman has lost 3 of his last four bouts and is currently recovering from a devastating injury. Fight fans would always want the biggest star of the UFC to be back in action really soon. However, the fighter is currently busy shooting for a new-age remake of the Hollywood classic, “Road House”, starring Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead.
