Recent Bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley has taken an unfiltered and unprovoked shot at Gervonta Davis‘ height. The non-verbal feud was incited when a tweet at the beginning of October claimed that Davis is a nobody outside of the 135 division. The latter boasted back on being the face of boxing. Davis has pointed out again and again that for him, height does not matter.
“This boxing s*** mine buddy..f**k a weight class I am the face” said Davis back in his tweet. O’Malley sought this opening out to take a dig at Davis’ height. He retorted back by saying “You are 5 foot 3 inches settle down“. This is not the only secluded time that he has dissed Davis as a boxer. O’Malley had previously called Davis a wannabe Conor McGregor when expressing an interest in first facing him.
And surprisingly this is not his first height-diss either. In a recent ES News interview done by Davis’ coach Kenny Ellis, he had said Davis would win as O’Malley does not have professional punches, unlike a boxer. To which O’Malley had resorted to dissing Davis for being just 5’2″ in height.
If these two were to face off in a fully sanctioned and carded MMA vs. boxing clash, Sean O’Malley would follow in the footsteps of McGregor, who fought against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2017, in an epic clash. But until then, they are bound to hands-off bouts on Twitter.
Sean O’Malley had a witty line to confront haters about title win
Sean O’Malley, who defeated Aljamain Sterling and laid claim to the bantamweight gold, has accumulated high praises for his performance. A perfect slip and counter by O’Malley, with a powerful right-hand usage. The performance is being acclaimed enough to be considered having shades of Conor McGregor Vs. Jose Aldo, 2015.

The post-fight press conference, however, revealed some new tidbits about the progression of the match. Learning that all three judges scored the first round favoring Sterling, O’Malley hilariously asked what they had scored the second one., after his victory.
On a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, O’Malley revealed his readiness to fight in December. But the UFC already had their headlining bouts set for that PPV. His estimated return would be sometime in early 2024. He mentions that he has been ready to face Vera since his callout to fight him in December. Vera has been the only one who handed O’Malley his lone career defeat at UFC 252. And has hence been his long-desired opponent.
O’Malley has expressed his post-fight exhilaration to be able to mainevent his own show. However, both Aljamain Sterling and Merab Dvalishvili have legitimate claims to contend the 135-pound position. Sterling himself is already poised for an instant rematch, but O’Malley has chosen to focus on Vera and other ventures for the time being.
