“I’m the worst style matchup” Belal Muhammad claims he would be a problem for Khamzat Chimaev and Kamaru Usman
Belal Muhammad declares himself as a threat to Khamzat Chimaev and Kamaru Usman
Belal Muhammad believes he is not far away from fighting the two biggest welterweights in the UFC. The rising welterweight believes he is very close to fighting Kamaru Usman and Khamzat Chimaev and reveals the reason why he hasn’t fought the two stars yet.
Belal Muhammad has proven that he belongs in the top flight of the welterweight division. He currently ranks at #5 and is aiming to fight a welterweight that ranks above him. However, it is highly likely that he gets a fight against the superstars of the division purely because of his style of fighting.
Despite Belal’s dominance in his last few years, he has not managed to become a fan favorite. Muhammad’s strength lies in his wrestling so most of his fights are pretty one-sided where he outwrestles his opponent to a victory. Muhammad believes his style would be a huge problem for stars like Kamaru Usman and Khamzat Chimaev, whom he considers the “Money” fight in the division. In a recent tweet, Belal expressed his thoughts on where he stands in the division.

Belal Muhammad says the UFC doesn’t want to risk him beating Usman or Khamzat
“I’m the worst style matchup for khamzat and usman and ufc knows that …them two are obviously the biggest money fight together so they couldn’t risk me beating either one yet but soon I’ll be undeniable,” wrote Muhammad in his recent tweet.
Muhammad has been in the UFC since 2016 and has only three losses in his time in the promotion. His last defeat came against Geoff Neal in 2019. Since 2017, Belal has lost only once. He is currently on a seven-fight winning streak, beating some of the top fighters in the division. His last win was against top-contender Vicente Luque.
The only fighters that are not booked in the division above Muhammad are, Colby Covington, Khamzat, and Gilbert Burns. Khamzat and Belal have agreed to fight each other on social media but the UFC still hasn’t dropped any information regarding that matchup. After his recent win at UFC Vegas 51, Belal called for a fight against Covington. It will be interesting to see who the UFC pairs him against.
