“He’s not a dominant champion,” Belal Muhammad goes off on ‘non-improving’ Leon Edwards ahead of rumored UFC 300 title fight
Belal Muhammad doesn't see Leon Edwards reign as dominant, unlike his own unbeaten streak.

Belal Muhammad is all but geared up for UFC 300, but he cannot say the same for the opponent. “Remember the name” has been gunning for a title shot for a while. But current reigning champion Leon Edwards has been very dismissive about his chances. Muhammad thus reunited with team Khabib and American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) peers for a possible welterweight title showdown.
With the historic fight card around the corner, “Rocky” recently received a hero’s welcome home. The champion hinted that he is in talks to defend his title on home turf in the future. Belal Muhammad (23-3 MMA, 14-3 UFC) recently told MMA Junkie Radio he hadn’t heard any specifics himself but remains confident.
Usman beat him 3 and a half rounds in the second fight, and I thought Usman won the third fight if I'm being honest. And then Colby I think took two of those rounds...He's not a dominant champion... I dominated all these guys. Leon hasn't done that.Belal Muhammad via MMA Junkie

This isn’t his first critique of the fighter. Muhammad stepped in as a replacement for the UFC 296 welterweight main event and didn’t pull any punches in the aftermath. Muhammad was unimpressed with the listless fight, calling it a joke on the division.
Edwards himself has not been too keen on Muhammad as a rival as well. Recently taking to X, he slammed the subsequent claims to title contention by labeling him the least intimidating person.
Belal Muhammad to train in Dagestan for possible title fight
Belal Muhammad has been adamantly set on a title fight for long now. Muhammad faced current champion Leon Edwards last in 2021, in UFC Apex’s Fight Night event. The bout ended in a no contest, with an accidental eye-poke to the Palestinian striker. With an unbeaten divisional steak, the fighter has been keen on rehashing the affair.

Muhammad is already in the gym training hard, as he always likes to be in fighting shape. He trains out of a small gym called the Chicago Fight Team. But the fighter out of team Roufusport will now travel to Dagestan to hone his skills.
He claims training in Dagestan suits him better as they train day in and day out. According to Muhammad, his last experience training in Dagestan yielded a good result and hence he would like to replicate the same in his potential fight with Edwards.
Muhammad maintains a close relationship with most of his fellow Dagestani fighters at the American Kickboxing Academy. At the moment, however, Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s manager, Ali Abdelaziz (of Dominance MMA Management), has shed some light on the same. Speaking to MMA Junkie Radio, Muhammad confirmed as much. While there is no official confirmation for a title fight on the UFC 300 card, Muhammad remains ready whatsoever.
